I was very fortunate to be on their 70th and 75th D-Day celebration tours. The service and attention to details was exceptional. It was very moving to go back.
2027 is the European Year of the Normans, marking 1000 years since the birth of William the Conqueror. For the first time since it was created 1000 years ago, the historic Bayeux Tapestry will be displayed in the UK, at the British Museum in London. Commemorate the Year of the Normans with a tailormade group tour to England and France.
1066 signalled a major crux in the Middles Ages, when Anglo-Saxon England was conquered by the illegitimate son of a Norman Duke. Edward the Confessor died, sparking a three-way battle for the English throne. William, Duke of Normandy, boasting a very tenuous claim to the throne, landed on the south coast and overthrew King Harold's army at the famous Battle of Hastings on 14 October 1066.
Visit William's birthplace and home in Normandy. See where he launched his invasion of England. Explore the great cities of Paris and London. Visit Pevensey, where William landed. Walk the battlefield trail at Battle and see sculptures depicting Norman and Saxon soldiers while listening to the audioguide telling the story of the historic battle. Discover other Norman castles still standing today, including William's great Tower of London.
ENGLAND : trace William's invasion route and see the Bayeux Tapestry in London
FRANCE : visit charming Normandy and the locations linked to William in France
